A crystal press without correct dies is a crystal crusher. Here is how die selection actually works.
Die Anatomy
- Lower dies: support the caseback — choose one matching your case diameter so pressure distributes across the back, not the crystal area
- Upper dies: press against the crystal — the critical selection

The Contact Rule
Pressure must land on the crystal's rigid edge zone — never its center dome. Center pressure on domed sapphire is how cracks happen (see failure stories in our lessons guide).

- Press kits include common sizes; measure your crystal before ordering extras
- Cloth between die and crystal prevents polish scratches — thin layer only, it doesn't affect seal
