Build Your Own Display Shelf

A custom watch shelf costs a fraction of premium display cases. Here is the simple build.

Materials List

  • Wood shelf board (any hardware store cut-to-size)
  • Watch cushions or rolled fabric rolls as rests
  • Small lip trim (prevents roll-offs)
  • Optional: acrylic front panel for dust protection

The Build

  1. Space calculation: 10–12cm per watch width plus breathing room
  2. Lip installation: glue/attach trim along the front edge — watches lean back against the wall
  3. Cushion placement: fixed with velcro so positions stay put
  4. Mount into studs: loaded shelves weigh more than expected

Lighting Addition

Stick-on LED strip under the shelf above creates gallery lighting — warm white flatters most dials; avoid blue-white which shifts dial colors (see our color guide).
