Dial Swaps Without Scratches

The dial is the most scratch-vulnerable part you'll handle. This sequence keeps it flawless.

Before Touching It

  • Clean hands or wear finger cots — skin oils etch printed surfaces over time
  • Clear the work area; one grit particle pressed into a sunburst dial is permanent
  • Rodico putty ready for dust removal — see our workshop basics

Removal Sequence

  1. Hands off first (see our removal guide)
  2. Note dial foot positions — photograph them
  3. Gently pry at the dial edge with plastic tools, working around the circumference
  4. Lift by the edges only — never press the printed face

Installation Sequence

  1. Blow dust from movement top with a blower
  2. Align feet to holes (or apply fresh dots — see our mounting guide)
  3. Press evenly at the edges until fully seated flat
  4. Verify date window alignment per our alignment guide

Frequently Asked Questions

Dial already has a fingerprint — removable?
Often yes: gentle Rodico dab lifts fresh oils. Old etched fingerprints may be permanent — prevention really is everything here.
